Mini-Tuck

A mini tummy-tuck is an intermediate procedure between just doing liposuction and liposuction with an abdominoplasty, as liposuction is done in both mini-tuck and abdominoplasty surgery.  Mini-tuck surgery is done in special cases when the abdominal muscles are normally strong and without laxity.  Only a small to moderate amount of skin laxity should be present.  This will be surgically removed but belly button replacement will not be necessary.

Reasons For Considering Mini Tummy Tuck

•Localized fat deposits of abdomen due to pregnancy or after weight gain resistant to dieting.

•Localized excess of lower abdominal skin with or without stretch marks.

General Procedure for Mini Tummy Tuck

Mini-tuck surgery takes one to three hours depending upon how much liposuction is required.  An incision is then made similar to a C-section incision to remove the excessive lower abdominal skin.  Since no abdominal muscle tightening and no belly button replacement is necessary, this surgery is not as extensive as abdominoplasty surgery.

Recovery Process for Mini Tummy Tuck

Generally, postoperative instructions call for plenty of rest and  limited movement in order to speed up the healing process and recovery time from a mini tummy tuck.  As the body recuperates, the patient can expect some swelling and discomfort.  Oral medications will be prescribed to relieve any discomfort by the procedure.  The stitches will be removed within ten days to two weeks after the surgery depending upon the progress of healing.  In El Paso Normal activities can generally be resumed within two weeks.  It may take six months to one year for the body to completely adapt to the surgery.  With proper diet and exercise, the striking results of the surgery will be long lasting.
